WEBOct 12, 2021 · Around 1790s, transitional stays started bridging the gap and replacing what we know of as more traditional 18th century Georgian stays (or pair of bodies). Transitional stays were were shorter, often tabbed stays that stopped at the low ribs or natural waistline (rather than the hipbones) and were often less continuously boned and/or reeded.
