Public institutions across Oregon are flying their flags at half-mast until sunset on Thursday in memory of former Oregon Senate President Peter Courtney. Courtney died Tuesday at the age of 81.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Portland has issued a Red Flag Warning that will be in effect for much of western Oregon and Washington between 11 a.m. on Friday through Saturday evening.
