The northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna was flooded overnight after the region experienced torrential rains.

Italian authorities have evacuated some 1,000 people from homes as the tail end of Storm Boris pummelled a northeastern region that was devastated by deadly flooding last year, regional authorities said on Thursday.

In several regions in the north and south of Italy, heavy downpours and storms have occurred. In Apulia, a firefighter helping drivers on a flooded road has tragically died. The man's body was found on Wednesday morning in a channel by the road near the town of Foggia.
