Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee has dismissed some charges in the Georgia election interference case.

A Georgia judge dropped two charges against Donald Trump that alleged he filed false documents in a federal lawsuit. He still faces eight charges.

Former President Donald Trump will no longer face two of the criminal charges in his 2020 presidential election interference case after Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee dismissed charges Thursday connected to the false slate of Republican electors.

At issue in Thursday's ruling are two counts having to do with the filing of a document with the federal court in Atlanta that declared that Trump had won the state of Georgia in 2020 and 16 Republicans who signed the document were the “duly elected and qualified electors” from the state.

Judge Scott McAfee wrote in his decision that three of the counts could no longer stand because they involved accusations of perjury or false statements under federal jurisdiction.
