Why do people answer "yes" to questions that aren't "yes or no
Basically when someone asks a not so great question that includes the two possible answers. Instead of providing the obvious answer, someone replies "yes" just so the person asking keeps reflecting on his stupid question. Of course, some will see the question and just answer yes for the fun of following the meme even if it is a good question.

If asked how the person may say yes to answer because they don't know the answer. The point of yes is that it's a bare bone way to answer a question, and it's funny. Yes is a catchall answer in this way. How many times did you do that? person saying yes, it's saying I've done it a lot. This also comes up when it's a multiple choice question.
