The the two big advantages over propane / electric absorption refrigerators are safety and cooling effectiveness. Great for people that are plugged into electric of have ample solar power.

The unit works for a few hours getting the freezer cold, but the refrigerator never gets cold, the fan in the freezer is not turning, then one light on the control panel blinks and the unit stops cooling completely.

Mar 20, 2023 · Yes, I definitely mean a compressor fridge. While I believe there are 12 volt absorbent units, with a 12 volt heating element. There are also 12 volt compressor conversion units to replace the gas/ 120 volt absorption unit. I installed the later on our Dometic 2862 refer, it works great. Russ & Paula, Portland, OR.

Jun 28, 2022 · Existing wiring was inadequate for the 12v fridge. I had 14 gauge and ended up running 8, as I had a long run to make. The 4101 requires the following: 13 gauge if run i 8' or less, 12 gauge up to 13', 10 gauge up to 20', 8 gauge up to 33' and 6 gauge up to 50'. 12v fridges have different venting/clearance requirements.

Sep 22, 2021 · 1. The normal RV (absorbtion) fridge made for the last several years has been what's called a "Two-way" style. That is, it has two different methods of operating, to keep things cool. One is propane and the other is 120VAC. The old "Three way" also used 12VDC but, most of those went away a long, long time ago.
