Oct 6, 2005 · The F-550 PSD automatic with the high capacity towing pkg has a GCWR of 33,000 pounds. Count on the wet and loaded tow vehicle grossing about 10,000 pounds, so that leaves 23,000 pounds for the max weight of a 5er.

Apr 7, 2014 · An F-550 with the High Capacity Towing Pkg has GCWR of 35,000 pounds. Without the High Capacity Towing Pkg, the GCWR is 26,000 pounds. Regardless of axle ratio. Regardless of GVWR. I don't have a 2011 Chassis Cab order guide handy, but I suspect the 4.30 axle ratio is available only with the High Capacity Tow Pkg.

Jan 5, 2010 · So inspections are not required for F-550s over 14,000 GVWR, and retrofits are not required for F-550s originally equipped with a pickup box that are 19,500 lbs. GVWR or less. Most F-550s are indeed 17,500 GVWR, hence meeting both GVWR tests. However, most F-550s on the road today are not equipped with a pickup box.

Apr 7, 2007 · Which sounds like the perfect match for an F-550 with 4.88 gears. You need the 4.88 ratio when towing heavy, but you'd like longer legs when not towing heavy. There are 17 different ratios available for the Dana S135-S axle, including both the 3.91 and the 4.10 ratios that texas550psd asked about.
