Under this map, we would separate the Grizzlies from the rest of the Southwest, the Pacers and Cavs from the Central, Philly from the Atlantic, etc. The ideal map IMO would have 6 divisions of 5 or 6 teams as such:

This 100% is what they should do. That would make the travel times as close for every team as is possible given where all the teams would be located. It makes no sense to keep 6 divisions where two have 6 teams and the others only have 5. Better to just break it into 8 divisions of 4 teams exactly as you have above.

The NBA has currently killed the importance of divisions, that doesn’t mean its antiquated. If winning the division meant that your team was in the playoffs, fans would for sure know who’s in each division. I think the NBA should increase their importance because they create rivalries. Apr 11, 2019 · I think the NBA should add 2 teams for a total of 32, then divide the teams into 4 divisions of 8 teams. Abolish the conferences. Each team should play six games against the teams in their division (7x6=42) and 2 games against all other teams (24x2=48). So there would be 90 games in a regular season.
