The P5R has a better pickup with more low end than the regular P5 before it (the newer P5's will also be equiped with this pickup) and the same counts for the new V5 24 when compared to the "normal" gen 2 V5's.

The mid sweep sets the midrange frequency that you’d boost or cut with the mid control, rather than a fixed boost/cut (500hz is a typical mid frequency). The Audere 4- band had Low Mid (250hz) and high-mid (750 hz) boost/cut. The John East J Retro has a Mid-sweep.
