Dec 12, 2011 · That is a swingin' little motor. We've got an Evinrude of the same vintage (late 50's) and it's one of my favorite little outboards. They can push a small rowboat like a charm ... I'm a little surprised to see one as a kicker though. The hitch with vintage outboards is that they're only value is nostalgia.

May 3, 2013 · I have a '57 Johnson 18 HP Seahorse outboard that I was going to sell before doing a little research. I wanted to have a motor to use as a backup for my 48 HP Mariner to fish HP restricted areas. I just didn't want to run two seperate fuel systems from to front of my 16' decked Jon to the back. The Mariner is a single line system.

It appears to me to be a 5 h.p., 1959-1967 model, but I can't seem to narrow it down exactly. The J9 series started in 1959, but was made for several years thereafter.
